WHEEL OF TIME DISCUSSION

Editor's pick:

It's official! Brandon Sanderson has been chosen by Robert Jordan's widow Harriet to finish the Wheel of Time series. Who is this man? Find out for yourself by visiting the Brandon Sanderson website on which he engages in discussions with readers of his books and keeps a blog!

There are some very large active Wheel of Time communities on the web, all of which discuss Wheel of Timeisms to the nth degree and beyond.

Dragonmount

Dragonmount now seems to be about the most popular of the various Wheel of Time discussion communities on the web, with open forums and email hosting thrown in as part of the package also. Prior to his passing, Robert Jordan's personal blog used to be there, and Dragonmount news is syndicated across the web. The effort involved in maintaining Dragonmount this site is huge, and all the more admirable when you consider that it is all a one man band. When we're stuck on some incredibly obscure Wheel of Time question and need help, Dragonmount is the place we generally post, and usually someone comes over and helps us out!

Silklantern

Silklantern Formerly the Netland White Tower, Silklantern is a Wheel of Time news, discussion, and story writing site. Founded rather accidentally in 1997 as "The Netland White Tower" by a San Francisco high school student, the site was re-launched as silklantern in 2002. The name 'silk lantern' is inspired by the gold-tasselled, globe-shaped fixtures of Chinese origin, hung outdoors during holidays. In the Wheel of Time, lit lanterns are hung in windows, doorways, gates, and trees during the Festival of Lanterns in the month of Choren.

Wotmania

Wotmania's Chapter Summary Project Wotmania is one of the original Wheel of Time discussion communities on the web, and a site where you're always likely to find some active and heated discussion about some Wheel of Time topic or another. Wotmania has now expanded out to include other fantasy novels as well. Also of interest, the question of the week, TOR and RJ answering questions about the Wheel of Time.

The Great Hall

The Great Hall is a small, longstanding 'Wheel of Time' based community. It offers the first independently hosted WoT dedicated Wiki and a White Tower based role-play.

Thus Spake the Creator

RJ's CNN chat

Myspace: Wheel of Time

Towers of Light

Towers of LightThe Towers of Light is a new wheel of time community that focuses on bringing the Wheel of Time fans together to learn from one another. One way in which they achieve this is their unique classroom setting that offers a real life section, entitled, "Practical & World Studies Annex." Within this portion of their school, members can learn from each other in many different areas, including cultures and religion.

Usenet Groups

Usenet used to be THE way to discuss things with other online users in the 1990s, prior to the advent of forums and forum scripts. They're still around! One of these might be where you'll want to discuss the Wheel of Time:

meet-up

For discussions of the non-textual, verbal kind, meet up with Wheel of Time fans or find out when a Wheel of Time gathering is happening near you.

wotism

wotism Posted here for posterity, wotism.org was the site to go to in the mid to late 1990s. If you were WOT obsessed, this is where you went to join the therapy group. The boys who started wotism abandoned their project when they moved to college; nor are archives possible because of a domain name squatter. all that remains is... the icon =(

Dragonsworn

Of course I have to mention my all time favourite, Dragonsworn. Dragonsworn doesn't just limit itself to Wheel of Time material anymore, but when I first became aware of it a few years ago it did, and did so with immense style and panache. Back when it used to look like this, I considered it to be the best designed Wheel of Time themed website on the web, by miles, and the site that I always benchmarked my own web development and design skills against.

Wheel of Time Forum

Wheel of time forum also carrying wheel of time talk. Anonymous posting is permitted, so you don't have to register etc.

Free Wheel of Time Game

Wheel of Time GameWe hope that the Wheel of Time Directory has been useful to you =). If you're a fan of the Wheel of Time books, have you thought about trying out our Wheel of Time game? More than 2.7 million characters have been created and it runs with the late Robert Jordan's personal permission. The fun and community there make it one of the "must-see" Wheel of Time websites on the net. Thank you for listening :)
