WHEEL OF TIME GAMES

Wheel of Time games come in several flavours, from a Quake-like First Person Shooter (FPS) to card games to a d20 roleplaying game. There are also Online Wheel of Time Games in another section of the directory. However, what's missing is a quality Wheel of Time MMORPG - a sure bet in commercial terms.

Our place. For more than 10 years the Wheel of Time has been the most popular Wheel of Time themed game online. The game has been running since 1993, and more than 2.7 million characters have been created over this time. The game runs with the late Robert Jordan's personal permission and we like to think that we've succeeded in building the world religiously around the series to a degree that no other game has.

Reportedly, Robert Jordan thought it was very pretty when he saw the screenshots, and indeed it does evoke the world of the books in a manner pleasing to the eye. Nowadays (2005) the technology of the game is considered somewhat outdated, and the game itself had the misfortune to be launched during 1999, when several classic FPSs came out, and was therefore edged out of the market. But, worth a few bucks if you feel like playing Elayne, running through a linear set of challenges. You can buy it here at amazon. One of the support sites for the game is Planet Wheel of Time, and by the looks of things, the game is sufficiently old not to have any recent patches or demos available there. another game-related site is here, which also appears as if it isn't very active. Note whilst there is a multiplayer variant, this is not included in online games because it is primarily single player.

a self-contained d20 System game by Wizards of the Coast approved by Robert Jordan. The single volume contains statistics for all the major characters, a unique system for channeling the One Power, feats & prestige classes. Now out of print and hard to find, we thought that it had some very interesting ways of dealing with things like madness. There is a discussion board for this game here.

Made by Precedence, the Wheel of Time Collectible Card Game has several sets of collectible cards: Premier cards, Dark Prophecies cards, Children of the Dragon cards and Cycles cards. There is no such thing as an official homepage for the card game anymore as Precedence went out of business in 2002, but Sam's wot ccg website has all the ginny on the cards and the game.
