WHEEL OF TIME ROBERT JORDAN

Every Wheel of Time reader knew these words, but there are a lot of other things that they may not know about him. For starters, Robert Jordan is a man who survived a tour as a Huey door gunner in Vietnam. And, while hospitalized with an injury in the 70s, he thought he could probably write as well as the authors he had been reading during his recovery. He wrote ever since. Here is some more about the late James Oliver Rigney Jr, pen-name "Robert Jordan", the author of the Wheel of Time series.

From the Tor website, this is the info on the back cover of every book in the series. Apparently, Robert Jordan was into pipe collecting.

Robert Jordan was diagnosed with amyloidosis, potentially a fatal disease. Read his announcement here. Tragically, Robert Jordan passed away in 2007.
