WHEEL OF TIME SETTING

Editor's pick:

It's official! Brandon Sanderson has been chosen by Robert Jordan's widow Harriet to finish the Wheel of Time series. Who is this man? Find out for yourself by visiting the Brandon Sanderson website on which he engages in discussions with readers of his books and keeps a blog!

The Wheel of Time is a richly detailed fantasy world, full of mysterious races and nations with quirky features. For people trying to understand these better, the web is a rich rource of information. The sites in this section are where you can find out all those obscure facts about races, and in general anything about the world of Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time. There are some classic resources in here, and spare a thought for the authors, this stuff takes an long time to compile. Having authored one of them, I know.

Encyclopaedia Wot

The Encyclopaedia Wot is an all-encompassing searchable Wheel of Time resources, and over the ages I've personally found the geography and organisations sections extremily useful for building accurate Wheel of Time gameplay and clans. They also have book and chapter summaries and character summaries on the site, very useful for remembering who did what... and erm when... and where... and even how =).

Weapons and Military Costuming

Brought back from the grave by the Dark One himself, Paul Postuma's "Compendium of Weaponry and Military Costuming of the Wheel of Time" is one of the classic sites regarding the armies and super weapons (such as the Sword of Kiruken) in the Wheel of Time. The site went down for a year or two, but it's now back up! Paul mailed us in March 2006 with the new location. Paul's compendium is also available as one of the Downloads.

The Wheel of Time Concordance

The Wheel of Time Concordance is quite simply a classic, still the first stop when looking for Wheel of Time information, even today, years after it has stopped being updated. Every race encountered in the books up to book 7 is richly detailed, and the section on weaves is unsurpassed, reminiscent of wotism in its heyday.

as the author of both the Concordance and the next entry, the Worldbook, all of us involved with the Wheel of Time owe a great deal to Rhonda Peters. It speaks volumes about the depth of her research that the concordance remains the ultimate Wheel of Time research resource today.

The latest Concordance version that I'm aware of was done by "TSOS" MUD (The Sea of Storms, which was one of our featured sites recently. Catch it here.

Site no longer onlineIllustrated Wheel of Time Worldbook

The Illustrated Wheel of Time Worldbook was a Wheel of Time reference site by the same author as the Wheel of Time Concordance: rich in detail and vast in scope. The site was divided into two sections - Nations, Peoples and Organizations, dealing with virtually all the races and nations of the Wheel of Time, and General Culture, dealing with topics as diverse as the national flags and customs of the world.

Wheel of Time Codex

The Wheel of Time Codex was put together by myself a few years ago, a listing of every possible "object" from the books (ie the 76 different types of coat described etc). Very useful when buiding a game and trying to get the clothing and weapons etc true to the books.

Wheel of Time Chronology

Seven Spokes, a Wheel of Time ChronologySeven Spokes is an outstanding site which has the whole Wheel of Time chronology, from before the books, to day-by-day accounts during the books, to after the books. The site is fully searchable, and also includes the Wheel of Time calender and characters of the Wheel of Time.

Free Wheel of Time Game

Wheel of Time GameWe hope that the Wheel of Time Directory has been useful to you =). If you're a fan of the Wheel of Time books, have you thought about trying out our Wheel of Time game? More than 2.7 million characters have been created and it runs with the late Robert Jordan's personal permission. The fun and community there make it one of the "must-see" Wheel of Time websites on the net. Thank you for listening :)
