I sometimes play a couple of EU games during NA patching. But lately was playing it alot because of the 3 hour wait for NA.

so I switched to smart casting and dropped my ELO down to 1100 from 1300ish, but I've climbed back up to 1250ish. I think the smart casting is way better once you get used to it, but it is very hard on characters you don't know very well.

Posting here because I'm curious if you guys use it and your experience. If you don't know it is under options, key bindings - you can change it from being q+click to just q for a spell. I know denvernight was using it and he said it was much better which is what made me finally make the switch.

I use it on all champs except rumble, due to his ult getting messy. All you have to do is learn all the skill ranges by eye :P Can use the show range indicator for that but using range indicator in tf's can fk you up :P

It takes the clicking step out of casting. So instead of hitting Q + click to cast Annie's fireball, you just hover over target and hit Q.

huge difference and imo I got alot better when I started using it. I never turned it back off either. Apparently you can hold "Q" for instance and it will still show the blue graph dung, but I still don't do that. It allows you to get more familiar with different champions and basically do things alot more productively. I always felt that other players had an upper hand in speed against me and didn't realize it was smart casting for a while :P I just put my items on smartcast and for some stupid reason didn't realize you can do that...that'll make chars that can jump onto wards like lee sin and jax so much easier for me to play. Was hard having to remember to hit another click for it to work :P

I also suggest turning on movement prediction. It forces to server to account for lag that probably isn't even there. You can sometimes hit targets as they enter the fog of war with this feature turned on.

Smart cast is awesome but make sure to have normal casting available. You can develop very bad habits with smart cast. I learned this lesson the hard way. I got so used to it that I lost accuracy with skill shots that have smaller hit boxes. Also, make sure you know the champion you're playing well enough. Smart casting requires you to know your ranges. Sometimes 25 units makes a difference between life and death, you don't want to mess up because you weren't sure about your range.

Don't worry, I normal cast too! Never even tried smart cast. If it's faster than casting normally, it's only barely, I mean how long does it take to click your mouse?
