I was trying to find it on dragonmount because I cant remember the specifics, but both Lans brother and Rands Uncle (Tigraines brother) disappeared in the blight. He looks like lan irl and rand in TaR. We dont know why yet as far as I remember. Im hoping it gets fleshed out some.

Slayer is Luc (Rand's maternal uncle) in Randland, and Isam (Lan's brother in-law I believe) in TaR. It is not yet revealed as to how or why they became fused together in this unique way. They were both in the blight at around the same time. It could be Aginnor's doing prior to tEotW, but I doubt it. What is clear is that in either form, Slayer serves the Shadow. He is the likely killer of Asmodean, as well.

Actually, in Winter's Heart, we see that Slayer can choose which of the duo to appear as in both the waking world and TaR.

"A man was standing there watching, a man as tall as an Aielman, with dark red hair faintly streaked with white, but his high-collared blue coat would never be worn by an Aiel.... his hard face seemed somehow familiar"..."'Rand,' Egwene said. 'He could have been Rand's uncle.' Of course, Elayne thought. If Rand had a mean uncle."

This was in TaR, and they are clearly seeing Lord Luc, not Isam. Then again, we see Isam in TaR right after he attempts to assassinate Rand:

"...he carefully unsheathed the two poisoned daggers and stepped out of the Unseen World into the waking. As he did, he became Luc. It seemed appropriate".

Note the last sentence. It was not necessary to become Luc - just appropriate. Then he steps back into T'A'R as Luc, and only switches back to Isam after talking to his mystery employer because Isam "enjoyed hunting wolves even more than Luc."

The Dark Prophecy is the first time we hear of either of them, and it is interesting. It means Isam managed to survive in the Blight for years somehow, long enough to encounter Luc shortly after the Aiel War (Rand's Aiel father is killed by Luc because he cannot raise his spear against someone who looks so much like Tigraine, Rand's mother). From that encounter, we know one of them died, and one of them lived, yet they are somehow tied together in a soul-splice of sorts... and clearly evil. Lord Luc, at least, was not evil beforehand, and Isam was a baby when he was lost to the Blight - although granted, one would assume he had to have been corrupted in some way to survive that long.

Luc came to the Mountains of Dhoom.
Isam waited in the high passes.
The hunt is now begun. The Shadow's hounds now course, and kill.
One did live, and one did die, but both are.
The Time of Change has come.

After reading a lot about the "Big Unnoticed Thing" on dragonmount, I think we'll see the end of Slayer and learn a lot about him in the ToM. There is a big thing about the eyes of TaR, and Luc was noted by Perrin as smelling cold and almost not human, believed to be from entering TaR in the flesh.

I havent read the actual thread about the Eyes of TaR, just the Unnoticed things theory, so this may have already been discussed there. ( I like to read some of their ideas, then think of my own and see how they rate up later :P) But Slayer jumps into the Tower of Ghenji in whatever book and Birgitte tells Perrin its evil (some theories have said the "eyes" are where Mordeth got his powers and hence Fain), so I think its very likely that the finns are the eyes and matt/thom/noal will run into slayer when they go to the Tower. Just my spin on things while trying to pretend I pay as close attention as the dragonmount people.

This is explained much more in the book. I hope you guys read it quickly, because its taking all my restraint not to start discussing it.

I'll give you until like 10AM tomorrow. Thats more than enough time to read it, right? Its only like 800 pages
