"...Mat throwing dice with blood streaming down his face, the wide brim of his hat pulled low so she could not see his wound, while Thom Merrilin put his hand into a fire to draw out the small blue stone that now dangled on Moiraine's forehead." (TFoH, 15)

I think it is safe to say what Mat and Thom (and Noal?) will be up to in the next book now.

Woohooooo! Probably the most anticipated part of the whole series (at least for me!)

I think I read that this book is going to focused on Mat's and Perrin's story arcs. Mat has to take care of Moiraine and Tuon while Perrin deals with Slayer

Yay! I have been waiting and waiting for this with Mat and Thom.
As for part of the story line potentially focusing on Perrin dealing with Slayer? I think Perrin should deal with Faile first. If he doesn't put her in her place, I'll cringe at every chapter she makes an appearance in.

On a related note, it is good to see that our illustrious illustrator continued his track record of accurately portraying the details of the book on the front cover. :?

The Tower of Ghenjei is a "solid and spotless metal tower that never rusts, two hundred paces high without any doors or windows." [tEotW, 24]

Or a stonework tower of blue rock, two hundred paces high without any doors or windows. That works, too.

By the way, this is the dust jacket supposedly:

The Last Battle has started. The seals on the Dark One’s prison are crumbling. The Pattern itself is unraveling, and the armies of the Shadow have begun to boil out of the Blight.
The sun has begun to set upon the Third Age.

Perrin Aybara is now hunted by specters from his past: Whitecloaks, a slayer of wolves, and the responsibilities of leadership. All the while, an unseen foe is slowly pulling a noose tight around his neck. To prevail, he must seek answers in Tel’aran’rhiod and find a way--at long last--to master the wolf within him or lose himself to it forever.

Meanwhile, Matrim Cauthon prepares for the most difficult challenge of his life. The creatures beyond the stone gateways--the Aelfinn and the Eelfinn--have confused him, taunted him, and left him hanged, his memory stuffed with bits and pieces of other men’s lives. He had hoped that his last confrontation with them would be the end of it, but the Wheel weaves as the Wheel wills. The time is coming when he will again have to dance with the Snakes and the Foxes, playing a game that cannot be won. The Tower of Ghenjei awaits, and its secrets will reveal the fate of a friend long lost.

This penultimate novel of Robert Jordan’s #1 New York Times bestselling series--the second of three based on materials he left behind when he died in 2007--brings dramatic and compelling developments to many threads in the Pattern. The end draws near.

Dovie’andi se tovya sagain. It’s time to toss the dice.

Hopefully it will be 99% Matt/Moiraine and 1% of Perrin/Fayle dieing the gruesome deaths they oh so deserve.

And then Elayne too.

I hope we see more of Rand and the Asha'man, the madness has always been the most fascinating part of the books to me. Don't need to see much more of the White Tower since the previous book was filled with that. Wouldn't mind a bit with Mat, but I don't think Brandon has caught the "real" Mat completely and I liked Jordan's version better. Perrin and Faile are boring as always so wouldn't be a big problem with me if they were left out alltogether and perhaps make a brief appearance in the next book.

November is so far...

I hope Rand will finally open eyes and find out the truth about Taim. It might even lead to splitting the Black Tower, that would be interesting. And Mat finding Moiraine will be probably the best part, I'm really looking forward to it.

Speaking of cover imperfections, I wish this one was close enough to give a view of what Im guessing is foxhead around his neck. Book 5 shows it on the cover as front view of a fox, but I could have sworn the description in the book said its 1 eye had the aes sedai symbol which meant it was a side view. Too lazy to look that up to be sure tho :P

There is a chapter released now. It is a Mat chapter ( :D !! ), and a little on the slow side ( :( ), but I still ate it up as if starved ( :geek: ).

Check out the chapter here: The Seven-Striped Lass.

There is an official (but fan-made) trailer for the new book at: Dragonmount.
