* R HP:Wounded MV:Fresh > Along the Tear Road
Cutting deep through the Plains of Maredo, the Tear Road connects Tear and Far
Madding, providing valuable trade for both cities. Far to the south-west,
across the plains, Illian lies, neighbor and enemy to Tear.

Along the Tear Road
Remnants of a small campfire lie to the side of the road, charred sticks and
ashes lying together in the earth. The Tear Road continues on, bordered by
grasslands and hills, with an animal trail to the east. A trace of leather can
be seen protruding from the road's surface, left by a wagon long ago.

The trail cuts through the tall grass in a westward direction. To the east, the
trail rises over a gentle slope and disappears over the hills crest. Thorny
bushes dot the landscape, solo entities in a sea of green. The Tear road lies
to the west on its north-south route between Far Madding and Tear.

At the Crest of a Hill
The top of the hill provides an excellent view over the otherwise flat terrain
of the plains. From this vantage point the grass swirls about in an almost
hypnotic motion. The animal trail leads off to the east towards the forest of
Haddon Mirk. To the west the Tear road can be seen carving a path through the
plains of Maredo.

An Animal Trail
The animal path continues its east-west direction between Haddon Mirk and the
Tear Road. The animal path seems to be the only suggestion of life in this
otherwise desolate area of the Plains of Maredo. A solitary hill rises to the
west and the encroaching forest to the east rises up like so many soldiers.

generated from the hot plains. A group of hills rise gently to the north, a
solitary tree standing proudly watching over the plains.

A Stand of Trees
The small copse, composed of thorny bushes and strangely twisted trees provides
some shelter during the suns daytime dominance. A small pool of water has
collected near the center, likely the only reason trees survive this deep into
the plains at all.

The forest of Haddon Mirk begins here, west of the Erinin River. The scattering
of trees found on the plains grows more concentrated as a forest canopy begins
to form. Grass still penetrates the forest, but further west gradually gives
way under the fallen leaves and pine needles.

The path curves to the north around a large lichen covered rock. The trees grow

brought from afar by the animals that pass through on their way into the

The forest path curls around a large upthrust rock, oddly out of place in this
otherwise forested plain. Vines snake up nearby trees, slowly sucking the life
from the trees. The wind rushes through the top of the trees bringing soft
crackling sounds from above. Small birds flitter from tree to tree, calling out
warnings as intruders enter their territory.

A Small Glade
The path enters a small glade, emerging from the trees to give a brief respite
from the en ompassing forest. The scattered trees and uneven terrain make
travel difficult, but not impossible. The trees around you appear small, but
healthy. If these can grow here, other life must be around also.

Through the Forest
Pine and beech trees grow thicker to the west and north as the path continues
deeper into Haddon Mirk. Saplings struggle for dominance, attempting to find
life where their ancestors have fallen. Occasional trees lie across the path
uprooted from the elements, or resting from old age. Thick layers of moss and
lichens cover the fallen trees, finding sustenance from the dead.

Thin beechwood trees gradually give way to cyrpus trees. A thin layer of pine
needles and leaves covers the damp muddy path that leads to the east. The path
winds to the south avoiding a fallen oak tree, the only of its kind in the
area. Sounds of rushing water can be heard coming from the east, a welcome
change to the incessant animal noises.

At the Shore of the Erinin
A sandy bank gradually disappears to the east beneath the murky waters of the
Erinin River. Tracks of wildlife intermix so heavily it becomes hard to
distinguish what all has passed through. Water reeds flank this small patch of
sandy shore, extending out several feet before the current becomes to strong.
To the west a path disappears into the forest, while to the east the river
flows on its journey through Haddon Mirk.

it curls around a forrested cliff. Trees lining the banks arc their roots out
into the air before submerging them beneath the dark waters.
