Since we started back in 1993, many people have done MUD reviews at many sites. This is intended to be an archive of such reviews, for the benefit of guests and visitors to see and consider. Hopefully more will be added to this archive over time. To view any of the reviews, please follow the links on the right!

There have also been professional sites which have done reviews, unfortunately I have lost these. When and if I can relocate the things, I'll put them back up - if anyone still has these on a hard drive somewhere please drop me a mail.

I've been playing WoT MUD for just about two years now, and in that time I've been able to do so much, and still have so much more to learn and to do with each passing day that I play. For those of you who have read the Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan, this MUD brings to you a great sense of being a part of that series. The staff work tirelessly to create a continuously expanding and entertaining gaming experience. There's always a new zone to explore, a new secret to find, it's great.
As a mudder who has responsibilities in life and little time to dedicate to mudding it is very difficult for me to keep up with characters in more than one mud. Over the last ten years I have searched amongst many muds before finding wotmud.org. I have found none that are nearly as intricate and progressive. This mud is constantly expanding and improving. The implementors and imms of this mud match great creativity and development to the allready great premise of the Wheel of Time by Robert Jordan.
I've played this mud for about 3 years now and its the best one I have found. The players are friendly and willing to help newer players. And now with the new coders and the additions they have made the game is taking a turn for the better. If thats even possible with such a great game already.
... intricate and progressive
Having been on WoTMUD on and off since the late 90's, I recently took a break and tried some other MMORPGS such as EQ, EQ2, daoc and SWG. Needless to say, they bored the heck out of me and I'm back again on the mud having as fun as I ever had. For me it's mostly the PK (PvP) that motivates me, but without the extra flavor of RP it wouldn't be half as rewarding. And here is where I see most graphic MMO's fail. The thrill of acting out your character in whatever way you like and not just mindlessly hack'n'slash in a PvP-environment is just... well, it's simply WoTMUD. You'll have to experience it yourself, I cannot put it into words.
Overall there is no other Mud for me. Its the best and continues to be challenging to play when you tire of one aspect you can immerse yourself elsewhere. I encourage people to try this Mud and give it sometime to grow on you and you'll look back years later and wonder where your life went :p
This MUD is the best. The immortals put a lot of effort to improve the MUD. When players find out some bugs, they fix them as soon as possible. When players complain about unbalanced aspects of the game, they discuss about them seriously and objectively. They tend to make the game more balanced to everyone than to make the game more favorable to only a certain group of players who complained about the unbalancy. Fact: The DikuMUD code base served only as a prototype. The immortals have changed most of its code to make the game more fun, more mature.
The Wheel of Time mud is constantly expanding, with new zones being opened on a regular basis, new equipment, quests, and the like. Immortals are constantly interacting with the mortals to create a RP enviroment alongside one of PK. Clans on all sides all have their own style of RP, their own lands they control, which is constantly changing by the players and not the admins.
... The staff work tirelessly
With a friendly and active immortal staff as well as large player base, new players are welcomed but should be forewarned that there is no newbie forest here! From the second you set foot in the world you will be exposed to all of the glory and ruin that is WoTmud
MUDdling through the Wheel of Time: Playing in a multi-user dungeon (MUD) gives a real feel for the Good Olde Days of the Internet, when men were men and trolls were non-player characters that got killed a lot. No graphics, no sounds - just a black screen, white text, and a touch of imagination. Although no longer a mainstream activity with the advent of first-person shooters, MUDs retain a charm and attraction all their own and thousands of people still play. The Wheel of Time MUD, based on the books by Robert Jordan, nestles within a stunningly designed site which uses Flash, Java and the latest bleeding-edge techniques to provide detailed and friendly instructions and background. Despite testing it at peak times, we found minimal lag and the denizens friendly and eager to help, a characteristic of all well run MUDs.
