MUD REVIEW BY SYBATTER
This MUD is the best. The immortals put a lot of effort to improve the MUD. When players find out some bugs, they fix them as soon as possible. When players complain about unbalanced aspects of the game, they discuss about them seriously and objectively. They tend to make the game more balanced to everyone than to make the game more favorable to only a certain group of players who complained about the unbalancy. Fact: The DikuMUD code base served only as a prototype. The immortals have changed most of its code to make the game more fun, more mature.
The MUD is a cruel but a real world out there. You die a lot in the beginning because you are new. But don't whine and give up. Learn your mistakes instead. You will become experienced and begin to enjoy the game more and more. Also don't worry. Other players will help you out in their ability.(not all everybody there knows everything. Everyone is learning.) This MUD is not a newbie-school MUD, nor a pure playerkilling MUD(although PK is more favorable). It serves to make everyone enjoy but not without challenges and your effort.
PK - This MUD might be the only MUD that allows free PK(PK without limits on level/class/player type etc.). Thus most players in the MUD know how to PK. They have good morals though. They despite killing newbies. If they see newbiekillers around, they will kill the lamer. If you die because your ISP crashed during a PK session, you usually get your equipments back from the enemies. However, like I said, everything is real here. You do lose stuffs like levels, equipments if you die in PK regularly, unlike those arenas. However you could always gain your level back. You could always collect equipments and get back to PK again. If you are a good PKer, sometimes other PKers save equipments for you. Or you could get a group and hit some mobs(usually they are hard) with equipments you need. With really mature combat code, ranger, thief, warrior, and channeler(much like magic class) classes with different bonuses and disadvantages, different types of weapons, armors, and dodge equipments, you could decide your PK style yourself. The PKers coordinate themselves to make the PK as enjoyable as possible. It is fun if you know how to have fun. If you cheat or complain, it won't be fun for you.
RP - Don't kill every mob you see. Killing innocent mobs(mostly human mobs) will make you wanted by clans. They will hunt you down. There are 3 races, human, trolloc, and seanchan, all based on the original fantasy series written by Robert Jordan. There is no alignment(Light/Dark/Chaos, etc.) in this MUD. So the Roleplay of your character is solely determinted by your actions, your words, your reputation, and even your last name or title! Feel free to become a guardian, a criminal, a heretic, a mad man, a fighter. It's all you! However since the MUD is based on Robert Jordan's book, the RP is supposed to be based on the contents of the book as well. It's not that hard though. Just grab one book of the whole series and check out the definitions of words used specifically in the book on the end of the book, you'll get a grasp on how to RP on this MUD.
World Map - Completely original to Robert Jordan's world with 100+ zones, many types of secrets, locked doors, keys, equipments, and mobs. Enjoy exploring them!
The last and most important! :p The players are what make the MUD so fun. They are from all over the world. So far I've known players from U.S., Canada, UK, Ireland, Austria, New Zealand, and maybe many more country too. Annually or seasonally players usually has a real life party going on a certain place(usually at a player's home). They invite other players and talk to each other face to face, not just using 'chat' and 'narrate' :) They take pictures and put them up on the fan site. All the players make you feel like the MUD is your home, your choice of community. I, as an experienced player(still learning of course) in the MUD, am encouraged to write this just by myself. No immortal has told me to do this or whatsoever. I found this site so I feel it is my duty to tell other people about this MUD and make the WoTMUD community better, and larger. Join us and let's share the fun together! =)
